My Christmas List

Well, Chas gave me her Christmas list in case I was wondering what to get her.  So I thought I’d come up with my own Christmas list.  Here goes, in no particular order:

1.  The ESV Study Bible – I’ve heard a lot of good things about it and I really like my ESV.

2.  Come Weary Saints – I get my recommended daily allowance of Psalms, hymns, and spiritual songs from Sovereign Grace.

3.  Chronology Vol. 1 and 2 – Third Day is one of my all-time favorite bands.  I saw them in concert for my birthday and thoroughly enjoyed their great Christian testimony.

4.  Slippers – not super picky.  They just need to be comfy.

5.  Starbucks – unless somebody would like to bring Dunkin’ Donuts to CO.

6.  Rockettheme Pro Membership – These guys make the best looking Joomla sites out there.  I’ve used them for every site I’ve built so far.

7.  Wii Fit – because I can barely keep up with high school basketball players anymore.

8.  The Dark Knight – still haven’t seen it

  1. Did you see Third Day in concert with Switchfoot, or did you go to that free concert of theirs? And does your ministry approve of either?

  2. What are you 5?!?!? Adults don’t get to post Christmas lists thats for kids!!! :)

  3. Mark,
You will thoroughly happy I’m sure if you got just a couple of itens on that list. I have enjoyed using my journalling ESV for OT reading this semester…most interesting is when they don’t insert a number for Saul’s age or lenght of reign in I Sam. 13:1. Dr. Gardoski called it the bravest Bible ever to leave blanks! The Dark Knight will be most apprpriate to watch with the girls…oh wait…but you’ll enjoy it anyways. Hope you and the fam are good, you need to hurry and start classes here, I think you’d love their teaching.

  4. @Jeremy: I tried to go to the free concert but couldn’t free myself from some prior commitments. We went to see them with Switchfoot and Jars of Clay. My sisters got me tickets for my birthday. It was an awesome experience. Jars of Clay signed autographs in the lobby afterward so I have a little poster with all their signatures. Third Day really impressed me with their Christian testimony. I wasn’t sure what to expect since it wasn’t a Christian venue, but they didn’t hide their Christianity at all, singing songs like “I Believe” which is basically an orthodox confession, and “Communion”, “Cry Out to Jesus”, etc. Mac Powell also gave an excellent evangelistic message that I could wholeheartedly agree with. My ministry’s policy is nebulous enough to allow it, though I don’t know that they’d recommend it as an institution.

@Mike: I agree with your assessment of the ESV. I wish I could use it as my primary Bible. I’m sure the girls will enjoy The Dark Knight. Chas let them watch Spiderman last night and Sophia kept insisting she wasn’t scared. I’d love to start classes at BBC soon. I have a few questions for you in that regard, but we can discuss them offline.

  5. What is BBC?

  6. Baptist Bible College of Clarks Summit, PA. Its close to Scranton, which is close to Chas’ family. It seems like a good school and they have a program that would probably fit in well with our schedule. From what I’ve read of their doctrinal statement, they come from a reformed perspective regarding salvation.
